Managed Hosting and Maintenance That Never Sleeps On It
Hosting, monitoring, performance and uptime, handled by the people who know your stack by name. Same-day responses as standard.
Retainers per month. Built by us or not.
THE SERVICE
What managed hosting and maintenance covers
A maintenance retainer with us covers five things: managed hosting on infrastructure matched to your stack, uptime monitoring with someone who answers the alert, security patching and tested backups, performance care so launch-day speed does not decay, and development hours for fixes and small features. You get a named Project Lead and Tech Lead rather than a ticket queue, a response the same business day, a written update every week and a report every month. We take on sites we did not build, after auditing them first.
What is included
A named team, not a ticket queue.
Managed hosting
On infrastructure matched to your stack, monitored, patched, and performance-tuned.
Uptime and monitoring
We know before you do. Issues caught, triaged and fixed, with a written record.
Performance care
Launch-day speed doesn't decay on our watch, regular audits protect the rankings it earns.
Named team
A named Project Lead and Tech Lead on your account, not a ticket queue.
Security and backups
Patching as routine, access reviewed, and backups that get restore-tested rather than merely taken. Covered properly on the website security page.
BEYOND THE CHECKLIST
What you are actually buying
Every maintenance plan on the market runs the same checklist: updates, patches, backups, uptime checks, a monthly report. The checklist is not the product. Four things are.
If a cheaper quote covers the same checklist, ask about those four. The gap is usually all four.
Speed of recovery.
This is what tiers actually sell. A cheap plan promises a response within a day or two. What you are paying more for is someone picking it up the same morning, and knowing what to do when they get there.
Someone who knows your stack.
Application-aware support rather than "have you tried clearing the cache". A named Tech Lead who has seen your integrations break before and knows which one it usually is.
One accountable party.
When something goes wrong you call us, not the host, then the developer, then the CMS vendor. We own the outcome.
Evidence, not assurances.
A written record of what was done, uptime reported rather than claimed, and backups that have actually been restored in a test. Anyone can say the backups run.
OUR PROCESS
Cared for, not just kept alive. Onboard, protect, report, improve.
Onboard
Audit, document and stabilise what you have, built by us or not.
Protect
Monitoring, backups, updates, security patches as routine.
Report
Weekly written updates, monthly reports, quarterly roadmap.
Improve
Retainers roll forward into optimisation, not just maintenance.
IN WRITING
The service levels, in writing
You can ask for the last three months of uptime reports and a restore test result before you sign anything. We would rather you did.
Working across time zones
We are in Ho Chi Minh City, which matters more for support than for anything else we do.
For clients in the UK and Europe it works in your favour. Our working day starts while yours is still hours away, so something that breaks overnight is usually triaged, and often fixed, before anyone in your office has opened a laptop. McLaren is exactly that arrangement.
For clients in the Americas the overlap is at the edges of both days, which is fine for planned work and needs saying out loud for incidents. That is why the escalation path exists rather than relying on someone happening to be online.
You get a written update every week rather than a meeting at an unreasonable hour, which is the part most clients end up valuing.
What a retainer does not cover
A redesign, or a new section of the site. That is a project, and we will quote it as one.
Third-party licence and platform fees. We will tell you what they are and you pay them directly, because marking them up would be dishonest.
Rebuilding something that is fundamentally past saving. We will say so at the audit rather than charging you monthly to keep it upright.
Content writing and campaign work. Different service, and available, but not inside this one.
Questions, answered straight
No fluff, as promised.
Do you host sites you didn't build?
Yes. We audit first, stabilise, then care for it like our own, many relationships start exactly this way.
What's included in a maintenance retainer?
Hosting and monitoring, updates and patches, performance care, and development hours for fixes and small features, scoped to your needs.
How fast do you respond to issues?
Same business day, always. Critical issues are triaged immediately with a named human accountable.
Do we need a meeting every week?
No, you get a written update every week instead. Calls happen when they're useful, not by ritual.
What happens if the site goes down at 3am?
Monitoring alerts us rather than you noticing first. Because we are in Ho Chi Minh City, 3am in London is the middle of our working day, so European clients tend to find things already fixed. For clients in the Americas the escalation path in our service levels covers it.
Are the backups tested?
Yes, restored in a test rather than just taken. An untested backup is a hope, not a backup, and you are entitled to ask any supplier for the result of their last restore test, including us.
Can we leave, and what do we take with us?
Everything: the code, the environments, the documentation and the credentials. No notice trap and nothing held hostage. A retainer people stay in because leaving is painful is not a retainer worth having.
What if our site is in a bad state?
Common, and it is what the onboarding audit is for. We will tell you honestly whether stabilising it is the right call or whether you are better off rebuilding, including when that means less money for us this quarter.
